PK102When Optoma introduced the Pico PK101 about a year ago, it was the first production-level pico projector to show up at PC Labs for testing.

An impressive package by any definition, it boasted a much better fit and finish than the typical first product in a new category. However, it was limited to connecting to video devices only.

Now Optoma’s back with the (highly alliterative) PK102 Pico Pocket Projector ($250 street, and covered by a standard 1-year warranty). The big news for the new model: the addition of a VGA connector, so you can use it with a computer too.

Some manufacturers have been attaching the word pico to projectors that weigh as much as two to three pounds, but the word is best reserved for projectors like the PK102 that weigh just a few ounces. Even among actual pico projectors, however, the PK102 is notable for its small size and light weight. At .7 by 2 by 4.2 inches (HWD) and only 4.4 ounces, it will fit comfortably in a shirt pocket with plenty of room to spare. As a point of comparison, the 3M MPro120, another true pico projector, is noticeably bulkier, at 1 by 2.4 by 4.7 inches (HWD) and 5.6 ounces.

With the Optoma PK102 pocket projector, add pizzazz to your life with new ways to share content both cool and critical. Easily connects to your favorite personal media player and features 4GB of internal memory – enough to hold up to 6000 pictures or 8 hours of video. You can even display right from your laptop’s VGA connection. Fitting in the palm of your hand, the truly portable, battery-operated PK102 is perfect for sharing photos, videos and other images wherever you go!
