Can Your LCD Projector Fit In Your Pocket?

I must admit, the first time I considered buying an LCD projector, I scoffed. Not at the price. At the SIZE. Man, it was huge.

It was also 1990.

Of course, the price didn’t make it all that easy for me, either.

Needless to say, when I discovered Pico Projectors, I went apesh-

Uh, I got excited. I just had to buy one.

A pocket-sized LCD Projector is indeed the way to go. You can carry it anywhere you go, it’s lightweight, and it feels good. Because you don’t have to lug it around like airport baggage.

Actually, the best part about the Pico LCD Projectors is that you can pull them out, hook them up to your laptop, with its own LCD screen, and start projecting. It’s so easy. So doggone easy, in fact, that I saw a homeless guy the other day asking for a handout with a slide presentation. He used a bank wall as a backdrop and drew in a cool $150. That’s what I paid him for his used LCD projector. Don’t tell my wife.

Pico Projector: Mighty Micros That Rule The World

The world of micro has arrived in full force with the Pico Projector. These tiny buddies will fit in well with your handheld view of the world, right alongside your laptop, PDA, cell phone, laser light pen, and monogrammed hanky.

In January of this year, Fast Company highlighted 10 Pico Projectors worth considering if you are looking to add new technologies to your micro collection. Here are the Big 10:

  1. Cinemin Swivel from WowWee Technologies
  2. Samsung MBP200
  3. BUGprojector
  4. Acer K10 Pico Projector
  5. Optoma Pico PK-101
  6. Toshiba TDP-F10U Mobile LED Projector
  7. Cinemin Stick from WowWee Technologies
  8. Dell M109S
  9. Cinemin Station from WowWee Technologies
  10. BenQ GP1

First, I’d just like to say I’m super excited to see so many name brands in the playing field. You can expect a shakeout as the Pico Projector grows in popularity. It’s typical to find a lot of brands in the beginning of a new technological phase, but as tech products grow in popularity and the competition grows stiffer it’s not uncommon to see some fall out of favor with consumers.

It’s interesting to  see WowWee Technologies in there with three different products in the top 10. Not unheard of, but it’s cool nonetheless.

Personally, I’m excited about the possibilities for Pico Projectors in the mobile market so to see Toshiba in there with its own brand of LED Pico Projector is quite exciting. And the Cinemin Swivel from WowWee Technologies is a very affordable add-on for the iPhone. The fact that the iPhone has a compatible Pico is itself a tribute to this new technology.

Currently, the options are pretty good for carrying a portable projector in your pocket and if you’re looking for something that looks cool, feels light, and is capable of projecting images at your next board meeting, a Pico Projector is just your style of technology. Go for it.
